Weekend at Hayling Island

At the weekend we visited the Hammond clan on Hayling Island. Saturday consisted of cleaning the car inside and out then after lunch we hit the road, and arrived at Hayling at 4pm. Sunday morning soon arrived and we had the traditional Sunday fry-up for breakfast followed by a trip to the beach where we discovered a park & outdoor gym had been built since we last visited. It did occur to me was this a waste of tax payers money ? The sun was shining but this was not Florida and there were no posers using the gym, so I thought lets show what a dad a four can do!! not a lot when it came to it! In the afternoon we went round to test out uncle Wayne's new BBQ and to meet the new member to the family Roxie the Basset Hound. The BBQ soon became a big gathering when old friends arrived with children. Towards the end of the afternoon I found myself playing tag with 18 children.

Mothers Day Special

Mothers day was a great day!! not only was it nice weather but we also had a Christmas style dinner!. The day was nearly ruined when the kitchen maid refused to wash the dishes, eventually we turned to the manual, as the males in the house admitted defeat. The cause seem to be a simple delayed start possible cause by little fingers pushing buttons, so we all breathed a sigh of relief and continued with the afternoon walk around the school field.

Bethany enjoying the new swing rope.

Jacob assessing the big rock and his tractors capability.

Rebecca wanting to find coconuts! .. the funny thing is she actually found half a coconut shell!

Weymouth to Malaga in 24hours

What a strange experience? I was asked at short notice to attend a business meeting in Malaga on Thursday! We landed in Malaga at 8pm Wednesday and had a quick stroll to the 'Restaurant Juan'. I ate a lovely grilled Red Snapper, battered anchovies , fried sardines and some strange salad medley. After spending the night in a cigarette smelling Hotel room, Thursday morning soon arrived where we left the Hotel and travelled to our business meeting. Three hours later and the meeting finished, I finally managed to find five minutes to enjoy the Spanish heat, then the Taxi rudely arrived to take us back to the airport, where we ate lunch which consisted of a smoked cod baguette, which was fantastic, followed by a chocolate souffle. Finally arrived back in Weymouth at 9pm, and very exhausted.
I have come to the conclusion that travelling abroad on business is serious stuff.

Tout Quarry

Today was such a nice day, the children wanted to visit Tout Quarry again, so with my love of Portland I could not wait to go!!!. After my reluctance I was pleasantly surprised of the surroundings of the quarry.

Say hello to the stone quarry bear.

Oliver & Jacob managed to find this old fossil.

Planet of the apes is going to happen one day!

No ape just an old relic in his stone throne.

Mummy touching a smooth piece of rock hard...... stone!

The wise old owl!

View from Portland... not long to go and I will soon be back with the sane!
